Ideology of it is more important how things look than what they are.

You pay attention to address of my website more than to the contents. You pay attention to the ways of presentation than what is being said and believe you are precisely on the right making a valid point when you think by making an astounding look and following rules of presenting oneself that prevail today are for everyone, are there to be followed by everyone to make it, to make a certain impression. Paying attention to visuals, to outer theater and the shell rather than what is the message about is what happens all around, noticing booms and bubbles would be essential to do instead. The ideology of not listening and not being interested in anything other than making an impression with surface is what is happening and obviously wanted, posing and stature. To make an impression of looking good is a strange and short-lived one. That is marketing, selling, a monoculture wanting all to perform the same in continuum to have the same fascist impact of ’excellence’ everywhere which is as well-defined and accurate as banking, programming, technology, any business-oriented culture there is. Business culture has penetrated art, business of selling art, making money with art and penetrated making of art expecting artists to present themselves as accurately as merchants. That is a big problem since art is not an exact one truth field nor only a money-making machinery where dictating style and contents would do something interesting and long-lasting.

If people in business and art schools do not understand the relation between surface and insides, that something is missing, when importance is on the size and grandiose, gender and origin, who you know and who knows you. If comparing what is said to how things are told does not ring any bells, is not strikingly , ways we are being led is more like brainwash because alternatives are not allowed.

Art reflects middle-class paranoia

Do you know what that is? Do you see the picture in your mind? The interesting phenomenon where people from different backgrounds do not meet, have bias against each other and don’t want to get to acquainted because it would mean to get to know something unfamiliar and maybe scary, maybe dirty, maybe go beneath your class, maybe getting into situations that cause unpleasant and awkward intolerable moments: shame. To seek understanding and unity, if that was the case in Modern society, that people actually wanted to know something they are biased at would mean forgetting status and fears you may have. Middle-class freaking out and panicking is too familiar a reaction. It is especially striking within the Arts (Fine) which tend to attract people who enjoy their bubble, excellence and the glorification art brings. This is much a reason why art is conservative, stays that way, does not change nor make progress other than very slowly even though art likes to think progress is where art is. Idea of being in a perfect place that does not need to change is serving the idea of grande middle-class, ’creative’ class for which making things expensively is a sign of something good and worthwhile. It is no surprise women are still underrepresented in art posts as male domination and old-fashioned gender roles hold on. Sexism is fine, but pornography is appalling, yes children are at risk.. It is no wonder Guerilla Girls had to hide their identity. To criticize something as this massive relic is blasphemy. As much as art desires to talk about human rights and making progress it itself is obviously above critique. Those who give critic are against art. Rhetoric of be on our side or be against and die is familiar in politics and religion, but art has been a good servant for both of those as we well know. When art institutions who protect benefits, status and image of theirs with the idea of they have the right because they are on the right side, what do they protect exactly is very legitimate question, as is how long such bubbles serve society as a whole?

What are we waiting for? It is a broken record that’s playing.

It is the obvious we are not doing. Which the obvious I see and all should be doing is to reconsider and investigate, stop and see the alternatives, stay in that reconsidering moment of not quite sure but there is no other choice but to choose and change- kind of moment. Walk and wonder.
It is the most difficult thing to do to try and change one’s patterns of thinking and behavioral models that have shaped you and are more or less given to you (if you do not resist). The environment and society we are grown into is the most strongest of all structural forces that mold us and desire to keep us under a rule, being obedient and lawful practicing those given tasks and roles being nice and clean. Orders of how to be a human in a civilized world, to find a job, which things to be interested in, which is our main goal to have a role to play, to work and make a living. Human is an active species. Strange to speak of species as if we were aliens, which we partly are, constant aliens. It is demanding to know first yourself and then someone else and find a place in the world. For some people to manage this it is almost impossible, it can be too much as it is made more and more difficult to find a place. It is more common to think you know the answers, that you know someone through and through rather than actually find that person out and find the world out. Easy ways do not lead to the correct answers most likely.
What this has got to do with apathy and playing the same broken record, which I think is the main reason financial depression is not solved, environmental awareness and awakening move ahead so slowly, human rights issues drag behind, reasons of not doing anything about those issues that need desperately something to be done about. Apathy that rises and dwells there where there is nothing to do, nothing can be done, people feel left out, incapable, out of resources and alone with lot of problems. Apathy which eats you and makes you think you are nothing, cannot do anything and nothing can be done. It is the society that makes you feel that way. Apathy is a trap you should not fall into. For society and democracy it is a dangerous way to think that we are left without means, ideas, capabilities and capacities and let a mass feel this way is irresponsible politics. How does it happen so easily? Are robots going to take over? Are we too spoiled and not given enough stimulus or kicks in the butts to become lazy and indifferent?

http://theweek.com/articles/553704/capitalisms-dirty-little-secret?utm_source=links&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=twitterBut in modern capitalism, access is everything. More than anything, access to the cooperative economic ecology keeps us all employed. We all depend on each other to keep the economy humming and to provide a robust safety net, so we’ll have the money to pay everyone else for the needs of life.Thinking through how we can encourage a sense of place and community in our market interactions is certainly worthwhile. But the economic changes are driving the cultural changes here. And we aren’t going to go back to being self-reliant agrarian yeomen, each responsible for our own little plot of husbandry.”

One social neuroscientist, Matt Lieberman, has shown how pains that we have traditionally treated as emotional (such as separating from a lover) involve the same neurochemical processes as those we typically view as physical (such as breaking an arm). Social science and physiology are converging into a new discipline, in which human bodies are studied for the ways they respond to one another physically.

Arvot ja moraali

Minkälaiset arvot ja moraali ohjaavat meitä nyt? Meillä on aina oltava jonkunlainen arvopohja tekemiselle. Mikä on ongelman ydin?

Disposable ones. Who disposes what?

Human being has human value, not value of piece of meat, a bird or a cat, but human. We consider our higher consciousness and intellect fair reasons to the superior number one spot on the planet. That is one way to see human value as value of a winner and taker of what there is to take and own because it is possible. Could human value mean we can refuse to do what we could do because it would be right thing to do? To be able to use judgment of one’s own, say no, see alternatives, be creative and innovative, have will of one’s own and be kind are parts of the human value. Aggressive is very much how many cultures do things and behave. They state their power and status by owning, stealing, taking, killing and denying it is wrong reasoning somebody else would do the same if they did not. It is common children are seen as inferior to adults but many adults behave as children do. What kind of conclusions should I make here? Quite obvious. Human value in all this combat and commodity culture is measured by how much and what one owns and what one is able to accomplish, what is seen as an accomplishment in the eyes of those who compete in the same game. Compete is a good word to add in when weighing human value, valuing worth of anything in our world much comes via competition, visibility and winning.
The more there are of us does it mean there will be heavier competition of survival or will we able to share the good we have with those who don’t have as much?
People who come in all ethnic variety there is and genders whom I cannot name, but genders in plural do exist and must be acknowledged: All have human value. What does that mean is a complete order of practicing human rights everywhere, rights that concern everybody. Is it a matter of defining human value again or do we know it by now? Value, worth, life, unique, irreplaceable wonder I cannot help of admiring and still stay horrified by him and her as we are not equal nor live in peace. Value of something existing is a good start to begin to think the difficulty in valuing anything. How do we become to value, starters life, which many take for granted, during which people can accomplish terrible tragedies to each other for reasons that seem valuable enough to cause disasters and misery for many. What is human value then in this picture with multiple disaster making creature who devalues life that he has made a commodity and disposable object to be destroyed just like that? Is it good to ask, is it hypocritical to see that monetarizing life and existence of species is basically wrong and unjust? There in every way seems to be belittling and underrating of value of life, ways of living, existing, undervaluing of nature, animals and people. Is it something difficult to define what is important and protect that?  It is not self-evident there as such is life, respected and cherished life.
For some reason I am not buying this talk, this niceness, this kindness and well meaning. This is reality: human life does not have value unless it is wrapped in an expensive suit and has buddies. Theory and reality are not matching. Wonder why that is. As much as there are good intentions, good people doing so much good world is in a terrible state. This is not just a horror story, it is happening all the time. I think my feet are on the ground. How about yours?

When you reject obscure and strange you reject utopia.

To think and imagine utopias is essential to creation, to dreaming, essential to change, to revolution, to democracy, equality, to everything that can be seen as aspects of diverse life and making progress. Progress on the other hand is what people do if they are let freely to create and imagine and progress of man is what is seen as positive part of people’s lives and an evolving society. Progress usually brings prosperity, that is at least the idea of progress. Utopia is part of diversity, evolution and art. In this sense it is sheer idiocy to reject weirdness, oddities and be afraid of new forms of creating, be afraid failure and ridicule. To me the whole of art has become more and more afraid of all kinds of cunts and dicks, suffocating making of art, suffocating creativity and joy of making art. True professionals do not dictate art or what is art, what artist is like, what artist looks like and what artist should do. Making business has become more important than what art itself could achieve. Money has become important value indicator in art. Value is directly seen as monetary issue. This narrows dramatically the scene of art, what is art and what is the meaning of art for people and society. When glory and fame, glitter and grandiose are the ruling elements in the art scene marginal is loathed, kept poor and silenced into invisibility. Marginal is made small and insignificant. This is ironic since it is the marginal that is vital to any art to reinvent itself. When you clean up too much you end up whipping and wiping away the error, stench, dirt, filth, laughter, sex, sadism, criminal, joy, crack, desire, unknown, possibility of finding, unthinkable, strange ideas, ugly, shame, fear, all that humans can do wrong and do all over again wrong, inability, disability, insecurity and so on. If these are not what you want art to be, maybe art is not your thing, even if you think it is your thing and a plug inside your arse, do not expect others to do your way.
