Anyone who embraces one’s femininity is brave because being feminine in every day is seen dangerous and inviting.

Dear diary: This is my experience on the matter of being feminine which I am without much effort and which I sadly have felt i have had to hide because it attracts attention I do not want and to be feminine is of course inconvenient when doing art especially sculpting, which is funny. It is an imitation, camouflage and forgetting one’s outer self to find the correct way of being and doing art. I stopped using mini skirts and heels when I went into art, dove into the world of macho art and the doing art as work. Appearance comes second when one does work that is all consuming, but as I have learned it has a significant meaning. That is why I resent that my appearance is more important. I place my work first. I wish others would do the same. My gender and appearance are issues at work always and always.

Therefore I have decided to embrace my femininity again and bring it on. What does it even mean to be feminine? Or to have too much feminine look? Is all about the look?

Sometimes it seems that we have learned nothing about inclusion from our troubled past. In 1969, NOW president Betty Friedan called lesbians “the lavender menace.”  She believed that including lesbians in feminist activism would undermine popular opinion of the women’s movement. In response, Gloria Steinem rightfully said, ”Feminism isn’t a PR campaign, it’s a revolution.” Numerous groups and factions rose up to challenge the women’s movement’s exclusion of and hostility toward lesbians.  Current feminist response to trans and gender non-conforming people carries with it horrifying echoes of those old wounds.”

Human beings become objects, objects to extinguish or to provide carnal gratification. The widespread casual and frenetic sex in wartime often crosses the line into perversion and violence. It exposes the vast moral void.”

James B.

Am I so used to sexism in movies that James Bond (from Russia with Love) sexism strikes me only as funny relic, which is true today of course (has not gone anywhere), and is more sad kind of funny than something that should be taken very seriously (as it should) or is it the concept of James Bond that makes it acceptable to perceive women as targets of male sexual fantasy, fuckable or not fuckable because the main character is good-looking, athletic, cosmopolitan who has adventurous and again seductive job, so sexism is fine and funny in this case? Women characters are highly caricatured in Bond movies either ugly, evil and old or beautiful, young, dangerous, sexual, open to harassment and suggestions and seductive in the fashion of the time. It can be easier to accept such subtle and seductive manner of playing sexism because in real life I am so up-to-here that my response is always immediate and aggressive. One can be pushed just as far as to the edge and you should not push me further.
It can be difficult to judge a man who is in continuum saving the world. Women are offered to him and offer themselves to him because he turns all on. Hedonism of James Bond is appealing and is easy to like a good-looking hedonist who enjoys beautiful things. Women come and go. Attachment is too much to take in his spying business.

When measurements for success are how much and what money can buy.

When measurements for success are how much and what money can buy.

Quest for presentable.

How culture pushes us to mold our appearance into admired package to be wanted? We want to be wanted. What are those forces that do not give us permission to be accepted as such, as we desire to look like, but make us follow given patterns and imitate images that show who are wanted? Is it due to beauty norms which all the time change as does fashion, what is hip and what to have, what to be, where to be? Isn’t it weakness to follow beauty norms of others, to let one’s mind be dictated by machinery that only cares about profit? It is the weakness of modernism, modern man, and also as such a contradiction as modern man is supposed to be individual and original maker of one’s fate.

The most I have faced the norms is by men who have very strict norms for women in mind meaning that a woman is a continuation to a man to stand by a man and is seen with a man as his. Everything is measured from head to toe. Woman is to be with a man to complement him to bring him something extra. She is his choice either good or bad. Idea is to manipulate environment believe how good this man is. The thought of a man who is seen with this and this kind of woman and what of it. To accept and value woman as equal person is extremely difficult to implement in a world where woman is an object without capabilities other than what are believed to be hers. It is a sad reality of how life for us to live is for eyes of others to show off, continue a wreck culture. Basic thoughts of women as for someone to mold in order to serve and please.

Then the question of affording something. When do we think about not having afford and why is that idea about lacking and inadequacy? Depending on need, is it a question of demand?

Lack of finance is the obvious reason, but still we get loans when we need to buy something more expensive than our resources allow us do and we think about buying something probably daily. Money is an addiction causing addictive behavior from which we cannot escape because our thinking and way of life is based on consuming, exchange of capital, possessions, debt, wealth, acts of selling and buying. When we begin to learn a new language the first things that are taught in foreign language are how one speaks in a situation of asking how much something costs, situations of exchange of money, to say please, thank you and of course the weather and where to travel. It would be strange and freeing if the first words one would learn in foreign language were to think about why we do what we do. My point being that without giving it much thought we teach people accept things without criticism without questioning and those who make books for schooling do not ever question the way things are done and so everything moves on as it ever has because those are the things we have to learn. What can we afford and how to ask for the price.

Thought of not visiting any shops may sound odd for people who are grown into a culture where shopping is basic way of expressing oneself, spending time and wealth or dreaming about wealth and objects wandering around malls. Shopping is to know that what one can afford maybe without thinking if one can afford. Act of shopping can produce pleasant feelings of purchasing, owning something new and exciting making the owner somehow better. When we cannot afford feelings of inadequacy easily creep in. Buying is giving a power feeling, person is somehow in power, in control of his or her life making experience of life to expand via things and usage of money, a pleasant situation. To have money and more one has it is giving the person a position from where the person can view on others and those who do not have the same. Opportunities may become more variable. If one sees the world made only via money what does it do to the idea of the making man who can and will, is rich in ideas and opportunities? Evaluation can begin. What is possible? What what is worth, how much a person is worth when that person has what she or he has. What is there to have?

Poverty is not a virtue. It is a fault, flaw, disgusting and making people sub-human, not worthy of addressing to, taken care of, provided for, listened to. In a world of money masters are those who have the most. Poverty is not a virtue anymore as it means person is not able to take part in the party of consumerism to be something. Without what are we?

Beauty of female

Beauty of being female is to experience femininity, to learn to know it as your own. Is it undisturbed and protected? Hardly. Even the most strict attempts to preserve femininity unharmed is harmful. What would there be to protect, what is the harm and against who? For some reason femininity is the disturbed, harassed, mistreated, undervalued, feared and therefore powerful. How to experience femininity can be a challenge for it is under pressure to imitate male existence to hold and obtain power to equal male authority. Subtle and fragile nature of female is what is expected of the other sex, the receiver waiting to be loved, taken as bride, accepted and wanted as obedient and kind, loving and caring. Strength of female is to question her status, to be able to either blend in denying herself and wishes of hers or be complete as a woman and stand against, say against the norms. Her strength is that she can choose. She is allowed to choose. Complete woman is a complete person who does what she expects her to do not what others expect of her. Religion, politics, people, society, only what she expects of her to be and want. That as such can be also her weakness. The all that there is to want.

To experience femininity is to be prepared to be looked at, stared at, talked about, where is the exact place of femininity, calculated, is a strange thought because it is everywhere, on level of hormones and cells, biology, undeniable there to be faced and looked at. Why does femininity have a place of particular and a set like theater, like something ready and determined from above without this plan to have a chance to be altered and turned over? Why is gender something stiff, to be scared of, panicked over screaming in need of help, childlike, unaware, difficult and therefore controlled?
