Interesting phenomenon of invisibility. What exists and what not?

How much effort must we see to prove something true seems sometimes as if we were moving tons and tons of earth from one place to another: pointless in a way, necessary and hard work, but it has to be done. If lie is profitable it is likely to prevail and difficult to overcome. Advertising is a good example as is politics. We don’t ultimately know the truth. Especially if most people were against your point of view even if it was true, you are an underdog and vulnerable when alone. Truth is the most powerful weapon against injustice. It is therefore feared, so it is not without grave weight and meaning. You have to be careful with it in a world of lies, as absurd as it sounds. I have noticed people gladly listen and believe lies and made-up stories rather than what really happened, what really is true. Truth can be boring, it can be gray and so everyday and it can get you killed. It can also be unbelievable. I as a woman have many times come across the fact that my word no matter how true, is questioned because of my gender and my position as inferior. Truth has many forms and despite who says it it does not change. It is still true. But people like to believe their eyes and other people like them. Forms of believing and talking make imaginary worlds that become reality.
It is a question of how to exist, how we are allowed to exist and how we want to exist. What kind of schemes do we need to create to make the life we want. Do we let lies dictate, is reality as honest as we want it to be. One form of lying is not to tell everything, but it is usually obligatory. We must choose what to tell. Or it is a form of letting the surrounding reality lead the way despite what you know about it. Then there is the not wanting to know, because it would be more difficult to live with knowing the facts and knowing might force us to act otherwise, feel guilty, find other ways of doing and living. We do like our comfort. To know too much is a strange idea, which also can jeopardize those in power as they think they know more. To know more than those who rule is bad for people using power especially if a nation is built on lies and corruption. It will ultimately lead to a conflict.

“But even if they had wanted to hide what was going on at their truck stop, they could have talked about what was happening at others, gossip ever a human pastime. And in a society as obsessed with celebrity as ours, where people claw their way to a camera or a microphone and serial killers breed fascination rather than disgust, someone should have remembered something. Who forgets the body of a murdered teenaged girl found at their place of employment while they worked there? There is no doubt that the social invisibility of these women contributed to their predation. But what exactly was that invisibility made from?”
