When anything that breaks this solid block of comfortable same-mindedness is welcomed with nothing but throwing of stones and sheer violence there is strong reason to believe there are not all things quite alright. When something that at its best seeks to find new ways of seeing and doing is pressed into a vacuum, into repetition and is controlled by bureaucrats, who rule with courts gathered around, by power that university diplomas give, power that they give to each other selectively, power that cannot be questioned, power that is there to stay. When artists can be silenced completely if their message is not suitable, comfortable and cute. When artist and artist’s behavior, looks, work, all that is visible is pressed into a form that pleases a middle class bureaucrat, the art will be nothing but decoration. When art scene and action in it is based on who you know and who knows you, when emphasis is on the business and how things look on the outside, the whole construction is on the wrong path and works in isolation.

Yes ethics and logic are important to maintain also in action, not only as abstractions that can be admired and read about. You find my ideas and opinions offending, I insist you get seriously offended. (I understand it is difficult to give me credit. I so get it. lol)

We of course have freedom of expression and freedom of speech, which means I have a right to say my opinion, whether it is liked or not.

In addition, favoring similar minds makes the world quite the image of a bureaucrat.

Censorship as way to do the world and stomping the world to stay the same. It is interesting to analyze cultural scenes since there are people who seriously have power over what we see and use as culture and as art. The power of expertise given status. It is a common practice of everyday. We do it to ourselves and to others by looks, talk of all kinds of subtle and not so subtle ways of letting know what is good. It is a mind control, behavior control, strategy control. Reasons for control often are not letting upset and hate show, fear, any kind of emotions, sexuality, personality, difference show in order to maintain discipline, order, conformity, hegemony, to maintain power or just to oppress because of having power. It is a forceful tool to be able to censor and make it a mental behavioral state as well. People who censor themselves in fear are easy to control.

Forces of those who wish things to stay the same. And what things are those and who are the forces who have such a wish? State of eternal growth, state of holy image, state of pedestals. To push the envelope is to say of having search for new expression. Expression defined by the one who is expressing, artist who lives expresses, everyone has expression of their own. Who sells the expressed, what is new in this picture of making money? Nothing. Do artists express to make money? and what is expression, and what is art, when does expression become art. It is expecting the unknown to be found, expecting it to be found, expecting the unknown to be. It is a state of trust to express. Then make it a vendible product.

For me pushing the envelope is a pop term. Music world is an interesting scene talking about censoring and expression. Pop artists pushing some envelope of theirs and possibly the establishment’s as far as the record companies allow them to push. To push the envelope against those who actually have power is for a recording artist suicidal end of a career kind of scenario. Someone has put something in the way to be pushed and push push it hard. Usually it is artists themselves who have boundaries to be changed. That is not a surprise. Controversy, scandal, provocation are marketable items nowadays like ever. Controversy is to rub your ass against male crotch and stick your tongue out. Huge is only the amount of press. To use sex for making money is not news. It as such is not incredibly pushing the envelope. To actually stop obeying pop cultural idiosyncrasies would be.

But Henna, How can you question value of art as a motor and a motivator for people in changing the World. True. It has changed me, hopefully in return I change something for better. Art changes you when you do it. So do it! Start with a portrait of yourself. This is not a joke. If you think you cannot do art, I wonder why do you think so, also what is good and who is capable. Most important thing is to create. Is that so? Yes, never give up.

People who represent the so-called Art World, what do they represent exactly?  Free expression, some kind of all-embracing goodness or themselves only, chains of institutions, chains of friends? Am i part of the art world, and other people who do art as well? But of course. So why does it feel so distant and unfamiliar? It’s probably my fault. I have an attitude problem and i laugh too laud, also i talk of improper issues like welding, how about gardening, now there’s a good topic. I have heard such people (troubled) don’t succeed, but i look fuckable even though he loves his wife. Now i LOL. Overheard piece of conversation. How nice. No, i didn’t fuck him. I felt sick.
Is it a question of doing it, living, experiencing, buying, viewing, being professional, understanding, talking, existing, being in some exact place, knowing the right people, getting in, fucking, doing a lot, never little or small, or not at all, what? What is Art world? It’s not the world we live in? Is it isolated? And who can enter? Because when entering, I’m the outsider, poor me. Like i sometimes leave it. In my mind i never do, leave art i mean. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, of course suspicion is a healthy reaction and some artists are like that. Like what? Odd? This is what i have heard. Freedom of speech and expression is what i expect of the arts, i also expect honesty and fairness without bullying. Why do i bother myself with these simple questions? Because constantly i face injustice and i have to fight it. I question why do art, why is it done, for whom? Why i do art? I have no other choice. Art is a problem to be solved, world to be solved and to know. There is so much to know. And i do feel sick. Sick of it all. ( I thought you were impressed.)
