As long as nobody gets hurt.

Art is not to hurt feelings is a thought that repeatedly comes across as something art officials and people of importance like to hold on to and pass forward, at least this is something I have been led to understand directly and indirectly. Feelings that must be protected what are those one wonders and why such care for feelings of anyone? Outrage is scary obviously, a shame, nuisance. Art that is not to hurt feelings but still is to make us feel. What do we think when we feel? We must be made feel pleasant and amused, enjoy a moment, event, experience and be filled with euphoria, joy or something similar to eating candy, not confused, angry, betrayed, contradicted, confronted or accused but fulfilled. Feelings and states of mind must be protected is the assumption and a kind of need and order which is taken for granted, anything else is terrorising and disturbing, bad art mostly or is it even art at all. To be disturbed is something we already are in continuum. Art is a refuge from disturbance. Art is seen in silence and this silence is preserved carefully in clean often white spaces.
